boot-fixhist.patch (At Joe Greco's INN Patch Shop)
"(INN 1.4unoff4 based but can port to 1.5/1.5.1 with minimal effort)
modifies rc.news to call the "fixhist" script after an unclean shutdown. My experience is that about 20% of crashes corrupt history, causing expire to stop working. The fixhist PERL script is available in the unoff4 distribution somewhere."
